Job summary

CPB Contractors is Australia’s leading contractor and the largest infrastructure construction company in our region. CPB Contractors seeks a Senior Contracts Administrator to join the project team near Ararat, Victoria, to manage subcontractor and supplier contracts and oversee project financial administration.

This role reports to the Contracts Manager and supports procurement to deliver commercial success.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–7 years in contracts administration, project controls, commercial management, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, legislation and industry standards.
  • Experience managing subcontractor and supplier contracts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the administration of subcontractor and supplier contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee project financial administration, including cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Coordinate and manage site office administration requirements.
  • Support the Project Manager in preparing and reviewing monthly project reports, including progress, programme, and cost performance data.
  • Assist with identification, evaluation, preparation, and submission of contract variations and claims.
  • Provide support in resolving contractual issues and interpreting contract requirements.
  • Ensure progress claims and contract payments are prepared, submitted, and received within required timeframes.
  • Proactively identify and implement measures to minimise commercial risks and avoid disputes.
  • Monitor project costs and provide accurate financial and commercial reporting.
  • Develop and manage work priorities to deliver high-quality outcomes within agreed deadlines.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence within the project team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

Your opportunity

  • We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Contracts Administrator to join our project team based near Ararat, Victoria. Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the successful commercial delivery of a major project by managing subcontractor and supplier contracts, overseeing project financial administration, supporting procurement activities, and contributing to commercial reporting and risk management. Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification, diploma, TAFE qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years' experience in contracts administration, project controls, commercial management, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, relevant legislation, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated experience managing subcontractor and supplier contracts.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to interpret and apply contractual obligations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven negotiation and influencing capabilities.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments.
