Job summary

Waverley Council in Sydney is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to deliver strategic and innovative communications across a broad portfolio of Council programs, projects and priorities.

In this role you will develop and deliver integrated campaigns, provide strategic advice to leaders, mentor Communications Officers, and lead high‑profile projects from planning through to evaluation, creating compelling content across media, digital, social, web and stakeholder materials.

Qualifications

• Tertiary or equivalent professional experience in communications/public relations
• Strong writing, storytelling and content development skills
• Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic multichannel campaigns
• Experience advising leaders and managing stakeholders at all levels
• Mentor and develop junior Communications Officers

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver integrated communications strategies and campaigns across council programs
• Provide strategic communications advice to leaders across the organisation
• Mentor and support Communications Officers to build capability
• Lead high‑profile communications projects from planning through evaluation
