Job summary

Waverley Council is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to lead strategic, multi-channel communications across a broad portfolio of council programs and priorities. You will advise leaders, mentor junior staff and drive high-profile projects from planning to evaluation.

The role emphasises compelling content creation across media, digital, social, web, video and stakeholder materials, with a focus on participation and community impact.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' experience in communications, public relations, corporate affairs or stakeholder engagement.
• Experience developing and delivering strategic communication plans and multi-channel campaigns.
• Outstanding writing, storytelling and content development skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver integrated communications strategies and campaigns that drive awareness, understanding and community participation.
• Provide strategic communications advice to leaders across the organisation.
• Mentor and support Communications Officers, helping build capability and deliver best-practice communications outcomes.
• Lead high-profile communications projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation.
• Create compelling content across channels, including media, digital, social, web, video and stakeholder materials.
