Job summary

Fuse Recruitment is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to support automotive brand partnerships and strategic clients from our Melbourne base. Hybrid work arrangement available.

You will bring specialist underwriting expertise on complex referrals, contribute to policy wording development, and ensure underwriting quality across portfolios. Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, you will mentor junior underwriters, develop technical capability, and collaborate with risk, compliance, and operations

Qualifications

• ANZIIF or equivalent insurance accreditation required.
• Experience managing complex underwriting referrals and technical underwriting matters.
• Proven ability drafting, reviewing, and interpreting policy wordings and endorsements.
• Experience conducting underwriting quality reviews, audits, or assurance activities.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Commercial underwriting experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess complex commercial underwriting referrals within delegated authority and provide recommendations.
• Provide technical underwriting advice on complex commercial risks, including coverage determination and risk acceptability.
• Draft, review, and maintain policy wordings, endorsements, and supporting guides ensuring alignment with appetite, product intent, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct underwriting audits and quality assurance reviews; identify trends and drive corrective actions.
• Support development and maintenance of underwriting manuals, governance frameworks, controls and procedures; mentor and coach underwriters and staff.
• Partner with Portfolio, Product, Legal, Claims, Risk, Data, Compliance and Operations on business improvement.
