Job summary

Allied World Australia is recruiting an Underwriter for the Australia Commercial Division in a hybrid setup (4 days in office) across Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. The role emphasizes SME package and technical lines underwriting with a focus on natcat risks and broker relationships.

You will analyze risk, price, and tailor policy terms while servicing existing accounts and contributing to market presence in the Australian commercial sector.

Qualifications

• 2+ years SME Package trading or technical lines insurance experience.
• Fresh graduates welcome to apply.
• Good understanding of natcat/weather peril risks.
• Existing broker and customer relationships, or ability to develop strong relationships quickly.
• Highly articulate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaison with clients, brokers and teams.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Methodical, well-organised with ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and collaborative team mindset.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer interactions with intermediaries and end customers to deliver high service quality.
• Provide expert advice and coaching to internal staff and external brokers, clients, and peers.
• Conduct insurance technical risk analysis including rating, natcat models, policy schedules, wordings and endorsements.
• Handle lifecycle policy servicing, amendments, credit control, and reporting tasks.
• Maintain ongoing contact with intermediaries and customers through strategy meetings and market events.
• Underwrite a broad range of commercial property risks and package policies.
• Review submissions, conduct account research, pricing analysis and term/condition checks.
• Support growth in the Australian Commercial market and uphold Allied World brand.
