Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing complex, high-value insurance claims.
• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance, including property, business interruption and liability.
• Sound understanding of policy interpretation, coverage and claims resolution.
• Excellent negotiation, advocacy and written submission skills.
• Experience providing technical guidance, mentoring or support to colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex and high-value commercial claims from lodgement through to resolution.
• Assess coverage and liability, interpret policy wordings, and provide sound recommendations within delegated authority.
• Negotiate settlements with insurers and loss adjusters, challenging decisions where appropriate.
• Prepare submissions for internal dispute resolution and AFCA matters.
• Coordinate external experts, including forensic accountants, engineers and legal professionals.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Claims Consultants and Claims Support Officers.
• Conduct file reviews, support quality assurance and contribute to training and onboarding.
• Build strong relationships with brokers, clients and insurers, managing escalated enquiries and complaints.
• Support brokers with claims insights, renewal discussions, client meetings and new business opportunities.
• Identify and appropriately support vulnerable clients while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, industry codes and regulatory requirements.
