Job summary

Latrobe City Council in Morwell is seeking a Senior Project Officer – Building Projects to lead the delivery of capital building projects across the municipality, ensuring safety, quality and timely outcomes.

You will coordinate consultants, manage budgets, and collaborate with internal teams, contractors and community groups to deliver sustainable infrastructure that benefits residents.

This full-time, 38-hour-per-week role is band 6 and initially temporary for 12 months.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Building and Construction or Civil Engineering with relevant experience; or formal qualifications such as a Trade Qualification with substantial experience in construction and project management.
• Current Victorian Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage building and construction projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare preliminary project scope and coordinate consultants for concept and detailed designs for capital works.
• Assist internal departments with technical documentation to support funding applications and future project development.
• Administer and supervise construction contracts, ensuring compliance with Council policies and industry standards.
• Consult and collaborate with internal stakeholders, community groups, contractors and external agencies throughout delivery.
• Monitor budgets, timelines, and contractor performance to achieve high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
