Job summary

At Atlassian in Sydney, we seek a Senior Software Engineer to own Teamwork Graph externalization, building API foundations and developer tools that power customer applications and AI agents. You’ll work with Product, Design, and other engineers to turn customer needs into scalable backend solutions, primarily in Kotlin and TypeScript.

You will ship APIs, collaborate on MCP/CLI/direct APIs, and mentor teammates while balancing usability, performance, and cost.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend applications and services.
• Experience shipping customer-facing or developer-facing products.
• Strong programming skills in Kotlin, Java, or TypeScript; comfortable with Kotlin and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Own technical projects from problem definition to launch and operation.
• Build APIs and backend services for customer applications and AI agent workflows.
• Design clear API contracts and useful error handling; write documentation and examples.
