Job summary

Paradino in Sydney is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to own Python services powering our AI-driven advisory platform. You’ll shape architecture, ensure performance, security and reliability as the team grows.

You’ll work directly with the founding team in a fast-moving, small-team environment, delivering production-grade systems and integrating with cloud services on GCP.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Shipping and operating production systems for paying customers.
• Strong Python expertise with FastAPI, Pydantic, async programming.
• Relational databases including PostgreSQL.
• API design, data modelling and third-party integrations (REST, webhooks, OAuth).
• Cloud environments (GCP); containers, queues, background jobs, observability tooling.
• Security-first mindset when handling sensitive data.
• Hands-on AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
• Familiarity with LLM APIs and patterns (structured outputs, tool calling).
• TypeScript experience to read/modify frontend.

Responsibilities

• Own backend engineering problems end-to-end and ship production systems for paying customers.
• Design APIs, data models and third-party integrations (REST, webhooks, OAuth).
• Develop and maintain Python services powering Paradino’s platform.
• Collaborate with founders to shape architecture and product directions.
• Ensure performance, reliability, security and observability in production.
• Leverage AI coding tools like Claude Code or Codex in development workflows.
