Job summary

Archa is looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer to join our Melbourne-based team. You will ship production Django code from week one and help shape architecture, testing, deployments, and AI-powered engineering workflows.

Collaborate closely with Head of Engineering and Product to deliver a scalable fintech platform. You'll design and own core backend services powering our corporate card and spend management platform, work on the payments core, and contribute to AI tooling and SDLC

Qualifications

6+ years of backend engineering in production Django applications.
Strong knowledge of Django ORM, migrations, permissions, DRF and async/background tasks.

Responsibilities

Design, build and own backend services powering the web portal, mobile app and white-label environments using Django and DRF.
Develop the payments core including card issuing, lifecycle, spend controls and transaction handling.
Enhance features and integrate additional workflow enhancements across the platform.
Leverage AI tooling to ship AI-powered product features.
Lead technical design: write design docs and ADRs, run decomposition sessions, refine architecture.
Raise the engineering bar with tests, robust deployments, and SDLC/AI-DLC improvements.
Own production quality: monitoring, alerts in Datadog, incident response and on-call rotations.
Review code, mentor engineers, and advance AI tooling in everyday development.
