Job summary

Cairns Regional Council is seeking a Senior Asset Management Officer to lead asset management across buildings, facilities and infrastructure. You will ensure asset integrity, safety compliance, and lifecycle planning through inspection programs, condition assessments and maintenance planning.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Building and Construction, or equivalent qualification relevant to the role.
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence for travel between council sites.
• Knowledge of building and services legislation and Australian Standards.
• Ability to develop and manage programs for assessing structural integrity, safety and compliance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships.
• Experience leading a team in planning and achieving performance goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support asset management functions across facilities and infrastructure assets.
• Develop inspection programs, condition assessments, defect identification, and maintenance planning.
• Inform preventative maintenance strategies, capital investment decisions, and long‑term asset lifecycle planning.
• Collaborate with the SAMP team, asset owners, maintenance teams, contractors and other stakeholders.
