Job summary

Byron Shire Council is seeking an Asset Engineer to on-site inspect assets, collect condition data, and drive lifecycle planning and renewal strategies. You will develop long-term asset management plans, support data systems, and prepare business cases informing strategic decisions.

With GIS and strong analytical skills, you will collaborate with teams and stakeholders to deliver improvements, while maintaining customer service and safe work practices in a rewarding community setting.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Asset Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in asset inspections, condition assessment and infrastructure asset management.
• Knowledge of asset lifecycle planning, renewal strategies and asset management principles.
• Experience using asset management systems and technology, with GIS experience highly regarded.
• Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
• The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and consistently deliver quality outcomes.
• A commitment to customer service, continuous improvement and safe work practices.
• A current driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Undertake asset inspections and collect asset condition data in the field.
• Analyse asset performance and lifecycle information to support maintenance and renewal planning.
• Develop and update long-term asset management plans and investment programs.
• Support the management and continuous improvement of Council's asset information systems and asset data.
• Prepare business cases, reports and recommendations that inform strategic asset decisions.
• Assist with asset revaluations, budget planning and financial reporting.
• Support the use of GIS, modelling and asset management software to improve asset
• Work collaboratively with operational teams, consultants and stakeholders to deliver asset management initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
