Job summary

Qantas Group is seeking a Senior Android Developer to lead architecture, development and delivery of mobile experiences from concept through deployment at the new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide.

You will mentor engineers, champion clean design, testing and automation, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to meet business outcomes and security standards.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a similar role.
• Extensive experience contributing to large Android projects and teams.
• Strong grasp of software patterns and techniques for flexible, high-quality code.
• Proven technology experience across Kotlin, Android Studio, GitHub, Mobile Continuous Integration, Jetpack Compose.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on automation, testing, and code quality.
• Excellent communicator, able to translate technical needs across business and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, development and delivery of Android software systems.
• Mentor team members and perform code reviews to ensure quality.
• Guide teams on efficient design, testing practices and continuous improvement.
• Own the app lifecycle from planning to deployment and monitoring.

They stay current with Android trends and ensure high-quality, well-designed software that meets business outcomes, performance standards, and data security requirements. With a pragmatic approach, they guide teams on efficient design and testing practices, proactivelyidentifyingand resolving code issues. As a key member of the Mobile team, they contribute across the entire app lifecycle—from planning and development to deployment and monitoring. Their leadership ensures the delivery of robust, user-focused mobile experiences while fostering continuous improvement and technical excellence across the team.

• Excellent communicator, able to translate technical needs across business and multidisciplinary teamsDeep understanding of Android design principles, API design, and testing frameworks
• Confidence with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions
• Experience writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Experience with server-driven architectures will be well regarded
• Ability to mentor junior developers and perform code reviews
• Confident in ability toassistin assessing and recruitingnew team members
