Job summary

Qantas Group is seeking a Back-End Developer for our new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. You will guide architecture, delivery and development of software powering our business unit, writing high-quality, scalable backend systems.

You’ll work hands-on to ensure reliability, performance and data privacy, with emphasis on clean code and continuous improvement. The role requires collaboration and accountability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a hands-on Software Engineering role.
• Experience building high-traffic backend applications.
• Experience with Java, Spring / Spring Boot and databases such as PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
• Understanding of cloud-native development on AWS.
• Containerisation concepts with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated testing.
• Experience using observability/monitoring tools like Splunk or Datadog.
• Strong focus on code quality, clean design and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of architectural concepts and cloud-based solution design.

As a Back-End Developer,you’llbe responsible forguiding and leading the architecture, delivery and development of the software systems that power our business unit.Ahands-on, highly skilled software developer with the experience todive into codeto deliver high quality, well-designed software.You willshareresponsibilityfor the quality of the software being built, including but not limitedto;achieving desired business outcomes, meeting reliability and performance expectations and safely managing security and data privacy concerns.

You’llhave:

• 3+yearsin a hands-on Software Engineering role
• Experience building high‑traffic backend applications
• Working experience with back-end technologies (i.e Java, Spring / Spring Boot) and databases (e.g PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc)
• Understanding of cloud‑native development on platforms such as AWS, including deployment, scaling, and operational considerations
• Containerisation technology concepts, such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions), version control (Git), and automated testing practices
• Experience using observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk, Datadog, or similar) to support production systems
• A real passion for quality, cleancodeand continuous improvement
• An understanding of architectural concepts and cloud-based solution design
• Highly dedicated ethos - expected to take very real accountability for the workyou’redoing
• A test and learn mindset with curiosity,collaborationand care
• Experience writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Experience with Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe Edge Delivery Services desirable
