Job summary

Zurich is seeking a Senior AI Engineer in Australia to join our Technology team. You will help build Zurich's agentic AI capability, delivering secure, observable AI services from discovery to production through collaboration with product, design and engineering teams.

You will design, implement and operate AI solutions using large language models and modern frameworks, establishing guardrails, cost controls and scalable architectures while embedding DevSecOps practices and robust security

Qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience with hands-on AI/ML in production.
• Experience designing and operating AI or LLM-based systems in production.
• Proficiency with LangGraph, AWS Strands or AgentCore and modern AI tooling.
• Strong full-stack capabilities with TypeScript/Node.js/Python and React/Next.js.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate production-grade AI solutions using LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, multi-agent orchestration, tool use and prompt engineering.
• Create reusable AI services and guardrails to accelerate delivery across Zurich squads.
• Establish evaluation pipelines, observability and cost controls for AI services.
• Develop secure APIs and integration services connecting LLMs with enterprise platforms with proper contracts and authentication.
• Assess architecture and provide evidence-based recommendations on security, reliability, scalability and cost.
• Embed DevSecOps and secure-by-design practices through infrastructure as code, CI/CD, testing and secrets management.
