Job summary

Zurich is seeking an AI Engineer to join the ML/AI Engineering chapter in Australia. You will build agentic AI capabilities, design secure APIs, and work across discovery, design, build and operation within a regulated environment to support our transition to a digital insurer.

You will collaborate with product, design and engineering teams, apply guardrails and observability, and help deliver scalable AI solutions while maintaining security and cost discipline.

Qualifications

• Production experience building AI agents using modern frameworks and tools
• Professional software engineering experience with AI/LLM systems in production
• Strong AWS engineering capabilities across multiple services
• Full-stack development with TS/Node.js/Python and React/Next.js
• Experience designing REST/GraphQL APIs and authentication patterns
• Applied experience in AI evaluation, guardrails, observability, cost management, and secure DevSecOps delivery

Responsibilities

• Deliver production‑grade agentic AI solutions across discovery, experimentation, design, build and operation.
• Apply and improve reusable engineering patterns, shared services and guardrails for AI delivery.
• Implement evaluation, observability and cost-management frameworks to improve AI performance and reliability.
• Design secure APIs and interfaces connecting large language models with core enterprise systems.
• Embed DevSecOps, automated testing and secure‑by‑design practices throughout the AI lifecycle.
• Partner with product, design, SMEs and engineers to translate needs into deployable AI capability.
