Job summary

Zurich Insurance Group is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join our Technology team in Australia. You will design, build and operate agentic AI solutions, focusing on secure, observable, production-grade AI services and integration with enterprise platforms.

You will work across discovery to production, establishing guardrails, evaluation pipelines and cost controls, while embedding security-by-design and IaC-driven DevSecOps in all workflows.

Qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience building AI or LLM-based systems in production
• Production experience building AI agents with LangGraph, AWS Strands or AgentCore
• AWS engineering capability across Bedrock, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB/RDS, SageMaker, ECS, S3, IAM with IaC (CDK/Terraform)
• Strong full-stack capability with TypeScript, Node.js, Python; frontend React/Next.js
• Experience designing REST and GraphQL APIs with clear contracts and authentication patterns
• Applied capabilities in AI evaluation, guardrails, observability, cost management, MLOps, CI/CD, security-by-design

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate production-grade AI solutions using LLMs and agentic patterns
• Create reusable AI services and guardrails for squads across Zurich
• Establish evaluation pipelines, observability and cost controls
• Develop secure APIs and integration services connecting LLMs with enterprise platforms
• Assess architecture and provide evidence-based recommendations for security and scalability
• Embed DevSecOps practices through IaC, CI/CD, testing and least-privilege controls
