Job summary

Willoughby City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Engineer (Active Transport) to lead the delivery of safe, connected and sustainable transport outcomes across the city. The role focuses on planning, design and delivery of cycleways, shared paths, pedestrian crossings and related infrastructure.

Reporting to the Traffic & Parking Team Leader, you will drive walking and cycling strategies, chair community consultations, secure funding and provide specialist advice while

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, traffic engineering, transport engineering or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary transport design for multimodal systems.
• Experience delivering active transport and traffic projects in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead active transport infrastructure projects from concept to construction.
• Prepare and manage grant funding applications and delivery.
• Develop and implement Walking and Cycling Strategies and action plans.
• Review consultant designs against NSW standards and Cycleway Design Toolbox.
• Present briefings and reports to Executive Leadership, Local Transport Forum and Council.
• Engage and manage consultants and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance on transport planning and road safety.
