Job summary

Sharp and Carter in Brisbane, Australia seeks a Senior Accounts Receivable Officer for a permanent full-time role. You will lead the AR function end-to-end, reporting to the CFO and mentoring an AR Officer, with a focus on high-volume invoicing, debt recovery and process improvements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in AR, strong credit control and contract claims experience, and excellent communication to manage payment discussions and stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

• Five years+ experience in accounts receivable or similar finance role, ideally in civil, construction or infrastructure
• Experience managing high-volume invoicing and debtor ledgers
• Strong understanding of contract claims, debt recovery and reconciliations
• Clear, confident communicator capable of firm but respectful payment discussions

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including high-volume invoicing, credit control, reconciliations and debt recovery
• Own the aged debtors ledger, meet collection targets and escalate overdue accounts early
• Handle client invoicing queries, credit disputes and payment delays
• Work with Operations and Project teams to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure billing matches contract requirements
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports on debtor ageing, collections and outstanding balances
• Support the Head of Finance with forecasting, cash flow insights and receivables trend analysis
• Mentor and train a junior AR team member and manage day-to-day workflow
• Support audits and recommend improvements to invoicing systems, workflows and controls

Job description

A well-established civil and infrastructure organisation is looking for an experienced Senior Accounts Receivable Officer to join their team in a permanent full-time position.

You’ll lead the accounts receivable function from end to end, reporting to the CFO and mentoring an Accounts Receivable Officer. It’s a great fit for someone who knows their way around a large debtors ledger, enjoys building good working relationships with clients, and likes finding better ways to get invoices out and cash in.

What you’ll be doing
