Job summary

Harrisdale Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of School Officers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Qualifications

• Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
• Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
• Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

Responsibilities

• Operate the front desk and manage enrolments; assist students with daily needs.
• Assist with the financial operation of the school: GST coding, reconciling records and processing invoices.
• Support month-end procedures: transporting receipts to the bank and maintaining data integrity.
• Assist with asset management and OHS; coordinate after-hours use of facilities, maintenance and repairs, and maintain key registers and security codes.

The Role

As one of the largest Primary Schools, Harrisdale PS operates much like a High School. All of our School Officers need to be flexible in their ability to work across a range of tasks and duties, including but not limited to the front desk, taking enrolments and tending to students needs on a daily basis. The School Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth running of our office on a daily basis. School officers assist with the financial operation of the school. This includes tasks such as undertaking account and GST coding, reconciling financial records and processing invoices. School Officers also assist with month-end procedures such as transporting receipts to the bank and maintaining data integrity.
In addition to financial management, the School Officer will also assist with the management of school assets and OHS. This includes overseeing the administration of out-of-hours use of school facilities, coordinating, and negotiating maintenance and repairs, and maintaining key registers and security system codes.
