Job summary

Catholic Education in the Diocese of Cairns – Gordonvale QLD is seeking a School Counsellor to support student mental health and resilience. The role involves direct and indirect counselling, in collaboration with educators to promote equitable educational access.

Commencement 18 January 2027. Permanent part-time (3 days/week). Applicants must have degree qualifications in Education Psychology or Social Work with relevant post-graduate experience and appropriate registration.

Qualifications

• Formal qualifications at Degree level in Education Psychology or Social Work are required
• Registered with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) or full membership of QGCA (Guidance Counsellors) or registration with Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) or full membership with AASW

Responsibilities

• Support students' mental health and resilience
• Apply guidance and counselling through direct and indirect interventions
• Collaborate with school staff to improve equitable educational access and outcomes
