Job summary

Catholic Education in the Diocese of Cairns is seeking a School Counsellor for St Michael's School, Gordonvale. The role focuses on fostering students' development, mental health and resilience through direct and indirect counselling and systemic interventions.

Permanent part-time (3 days per week) with a competitive salary and superannuation. Commencement 18 January 2027; closing date 15 November 2026. Applicants must be committed to child-safe practices.

Qualifications

• Be registered or eligible to be registered with Queensland College of Teachers
• Hold a Working with Children Blue Card (if without teacher qualifications)
• Formal qualifications at Degree level in Education Psychology or Social Work with relevant post-graduate experience
• Guidance Counsellors (Teacher) require QCT registration and QGCA membership or AHPRA/general AASW membership
• Guidance Counsellors (Non-Teacher, Psychologist or Social Worker) require AHPRA registration or AASW membership
