Job summary

Contec Recruitment is seeking a Safety Advisor to support Brisbane-based projects, initially focused on South Brisbane. The role drives health and safety on-site across commercial builds, reporting to the Project Manager to uphold safety culture and compliance.

You will implement inductions, training, and audits, engage with site teams, and maintain WHS documentation, specifically using HammerTech. 3–5 years of construction safety experience and a Certificate IV in WHS are required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of safety experience in construction, preferably on commercial projects.
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) and White Card.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation.
• Experience in retail environments is highly desirable.
• Proficient with MS Office and safety documentation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe on-site working environment by enforcing health and safety regulations.
• Ensure all construction activities are safe, compliant, and in line with legislation and codes.
• Manage site inductions, training and auditing.
• Engage actively with supervisors, workers, and contractors.

• Play a key safety position in the business

Exciting opportunity with a well-established & QLD owned property developer who deliver retail & commercial projects across Brisbane. This progressive and award-winning business own their land, design, build and manage the commercial builds.

With a strong portfolio of projects and requiring further safety resources, they are currently looking for a Safety Advisor to support projects in Brisbane, initially across projects-based South of Brisbane ranged between $20M - $30M. Projects consist of multiple stages: planning, civils, built to practical completion.

As Safety Advisor, reporting into the Project Manager you will play a key role within the construction team. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Ensuring a safe working environment on-site by enforcing health and safety regulations, identifying hazards, and promoting a strong safety culture
• Ensuring all construction activities are conducted safely, compliantly, and in accordance with Health and Safety legislation, Codes of Practice, and company policies
• Manage site inductions, training and auditing
• Hands on assistance with active engagement with supervisors, workers, and contractors
• Maintain accurate WHS documentation and records via HammerTech

To be successful you must have a minimum of 3 - 5 years safety experience in construction, preferably on commercial projects. Working within live retail environments is highly desirable. Minimum requirement of Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) and white card. Strong team player with the ability to work well with the construction team, build relationships and rapport at all levels, encouraging and effectively promoting a safe working environment. Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and proficient with Microsoft suite.HammerTech experience or similar highly desirable.
