Job summary

TalentWeb is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join a Sydney-based builder delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects. You will take ownership of site safety, influence delivery methods and strengthen the safety culture alongside the Construction Manager and Project Manager.

You will conduct regular site inspections, lead toolbox talks and manage incident investigations, with NSW WHS compliance and multi-storey residential experience highly valued.

Qualifications

• WHS/WHSE knowledge across NSW legislation and construction compliance.
• Effective communicator able to engage site teams and management.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with subcontractors and client teams.
• Highly organised and proactive with ability to manage competing priorities.
• Practical, hands-on approach balancing compliance with production needs.
• Experience in multi-storey residential construction is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across site teams, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments, identifying hazards and ensuring appropriate controls are implemented.
• Review and monitor SWMS, high-risk construction activities and compliance with relevant WHS legislation and project requirements.
• Work closely with site management and subcontractors to proactively address safety concerns and improve work practices.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, site inductions and safety training to encourage engagement and accountability.
• Manage incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions and associated WHSE documentation.
• Support the project team in planning upcoming works, identifying potential risks and implementing practical safety solutions.

About You

• Previous experience in a Safety/WHS/WHSE Advisor role within the Australian construction industry, ideally on multi-storey residential projects.
• Relevant WHS qualifications, with a sound understanding of NSW safety legislation and construction compliance.
• A confident, articulate communicator who can build strong relationships with site teams, subcontractors and senior management.
• Someone comfortable challenging existing practices and driving positive change, while remaining approachable and solutions-focused.
• Highly organised, reliable and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on commitments.
• A practical, hands-on approach to safety, understanding the importance of balancing compliance with the realities of construction delivery.
