Job summary

Civil Services Group is seeking Safety Advisors based in the Mackay region to support the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program and upcoming tenders. Roles involve 12-to-24 month assignments with possible extensions, either FIFO or DIDO, with preference for local candidates.

Responsibilities include developing safety plans, conducting risk assessments and audits, maintaining required documentation, and engaging with staff and stakeholders to ensure compliance with road safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ safety advising experience on road infrastructure construction projects, with at least 1 year on TMR roads or equivalent authorities.
• Strong understanding of OH&S legislation and Australian Standards.
• Proven time management and ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to resolve conflicts.
• Formal qualifications to support experience are expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and implementation of health and safety plans.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, task observations and safety investigations.
• Complete and maintain project documentation in line with requirements and legislation.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with employees and stakeholders.
