Job summary

Civil Services Group is seeking Safety Advisors based in the Mackay region to support the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program and upcoming tenders. Roles involve 12-to-24 month assignments with possible extensions, either FIFO or DIDO, with preference for local candidates.

Responsibilities include developing safety plans, conducting risk assessments and audits, maintaining required documentation, and engaging with staff and stakeholders to ensure compliance with road safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ safety advising experience on road infrastructure construction projects, with at least 1 year on TMR roads or equivalent authorities.
• Strong understanding of OH&S legislation and Australian Standards.
• Proven time management and ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to resolve conflicts.
• Formal qualifications to support experience are expected.

Job description

We have recently won Tenders for the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program (BHTSP) and more are being scheduled.

We would like to speak with more Safety Advisors based in the Mackay region with Road Infrastructure experience interested in registering with us and capable of committing to assignments for varying periods of between a year or two with a possibility of extensions and other projects if we are successful in new Tenders.

Responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in the preparation & implementation of health and safety plans
• Complete risk assessments, audits, task observations and safety investigations
• Complete and maintain any documentation required on the project as per requirements & ensure relevant legislation is adhered to.
• Manage and develop relationships with employees and stakeholders

Essential Skills Required For Undertaking This Role

• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ Safety Advising experience on Road Infrastructure construction projects, with at least a year of that working directly or indirectly on TMR Roads Infrastructure Projects, or alternatively with councils or other Australian Road Authorities;
• Strong understanding of OH&S legislation (Australian Standards)
• Time management and task prioritisation capabilities, with an ability to meet deadlines and manage pressure
• Excellent communication skills
• Well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• It would be anticipated that the person will have some Formal Qualifications to support their experience.

The roles will be based in the Mackay region. FIFO &/or DIDO may be considered, although preference would be given to someone who is local to the Mackay region.

the right to work in Australia, with well-developed interpersonal and consultative skills and a current drivers licence.
