Job summary

Frontline Recruitment Group - Sydney Western Suburbs NSW is seeking a Residential Estimator for a Castle Hill based role. The position is hands-on, with about 80% estimating and 20% contracts administration, giving you ownership of the estimating process while supporting delivery.

As the Residential Estimator, you will prepare accurate estimates from plans, price materials and labour, and coordinate with trades across 10-12 residential projects.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Construction, Building, Estimating or Quantity Surveying is desirable.
• Relevant residential construction experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for residential extensions, renovations and construction projects.
• Review architectural plans, drawings and specifications to identify project requirements.
• Complete material take-offs and price materials, labour and subcontractor costs.
• Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing.

Our client is an established residential construction and renovation business based in Castle Hill, specialising in extensions, renovations and bespoke residential projects. They are looking for an experienced Residential Estimator to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a hands-on role with approximately 80% estimating and 20% contracts administration, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of the estimating process while supporting projects through to delivery.

About the Role

As the Residential Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates across a range of residential construction projects. Working from architectural plans, drawings and specifications, you will assess project requirements, price materials and labour, and prepare detailed quotations.

You will also provide support across the contracts administration function, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure projects are well organised and materials and trades are coordinated effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for residential extensions, renovations and construction projects
• Review architectural plans, drawings and specifications to accurately identify project requirements
• Complete material take-offs and accurately price materials, labour and subcontractor costs
• Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing
• Enter and maintain project costs within estimating and construction software
• Monitor budgets and identify potential cost variations
• Prepare quote proposals for clients
• Assist with the handover of successful projects to the delivery team
• Support contracts administration across approximately 10-12 residential projects
• Order materials and issue work orders to trades and suppliers
• Work closely with the Project Manager to coordinate project requirements
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy

About You

We are looking for a residential construction estimator who understands how homes are built and has a strong eye for detail and costs.
You will ideally have:

• Previous estimating experience within residential construction
• Strong experience pricing extensions, renovations and bespoke residential projects
• The ability to confidently read and interpret architectural plans and construction drawings
• Strong knowledge of residential building materials, trades and construction processes
• Experience completing take-offs and preparing detailed project estimates
• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
• The ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams
• Experience with estimating, quoting or construction management software
• Previous contracts administration or project coordination experience will be highly regarded

Qualifications

• Qualification in Construction, Building, Estimating, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline is desirable
• Relevant residential construction experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications
