Job summary

Adecco Australia Group is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join a growing firm delivering high-quality Class 2 residential projects across Sydney. You will prepare accurate estimates from tender through award, working with pre-construction and project teams.

The role requires at least 5 years' estimating experience in Australian construction, strong ability to interpret drawings, review specs, obtain quotes, and support tender negotiations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' estimating experience in Australian construction.
• Strong knowledge of Australian construction methods, materials and market pricing.
• Experience across new build, multi-residential or apartment projects.
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Relevant qualifications in Construction, Quantity Surveying or related discipline are highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for Class 2 residential projects.
• Review architectural drawings, engineering documentation, specifications and scopes of work.
• Prepare tender submissions, take-offs, pricing and bills of quantities.
• Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Compare quotations and ensure costs are captured.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, variations and potential cost savings.
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and internal teams.
• Assist with tender negotiations and presentations through to award.
• Maintain estimating records and contribute to process improvements.

Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join an established and growing construction business delivering high-quality Class 2 residential projects across Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator who has a strong understanding of the Australian construction market and a proven background estimating Class 2 residential projects from tender through to award.

The Role

Working closely with the Pre-Construction, Commercial and Project teams, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates across a range of Class 2 residential projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for Class 2 residential projects.
• Reviewing architectural drawings, engineering documentation, specifications and scopes of work.
• Preparing tender submissions, take-offs, pricing and bills of quantities.
• Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Comparing quotations and ensuring costs are accurately captured.
• Identifying project risks, exclusions, variations and potential cost savings.
• Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and internal project teams.
• Assisting with tender negotiations and presentations through to project award.
• Maintaining accurate estimating records and contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Minimum 5 years' estimating experience within the Australian construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of Australian construction methods, materials, subcontractors and current market pricing.
• Experience across new build, multi-residential or apartment projects.
• Strong ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong commercial awareness.
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Relevant qualifications in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Building or a related discipline are highly regarded.
