Job summary

Buildkite seeks a highly skilled Support Engineer to serve enterprise customers, solving complex CI/CD, software, and infrastructure issues. You’ll collaborate with Software Engineering teams at Canva, Uber, and Airbnb, and design scalable tools and processes to enhance customer experiences.

This remote role requires WA timezone alignment, five-day work weeks, and a blend of reactive and proactive work to shape a world-class support function at Buildkite.

Qualifications

• Deep commitment to delivering world-class support with empathy.
• Strong coding or scripting ability in Bash, Ruby on Rails, or Golang.
• Solid experience with CI/CD tools and platforms including Linux, AWS, GCP, Azure, Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Confident in tackling complex technical issues and guiding customers to solutions.
• Able to work independently, identify opportunities early, and drive improvements.
• Excellent communication to explain technical details across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Independently resolve highly technical CI/CD, software, and infrastructure issues for enterprise customers
• Provide support through Slack, Zoom, Email, Plain, and Community Forum
• Lead customer-facing retrospectives and planning to improve Buildkite experience
• Identify opportunities to prevent future issues and drive proactive solutions
• Contribute to and maintain open source tools and utilities
• Publish documentation updates and proactive communications
• Advocate for customers to influence product and process improvements
• Own and improve support workflows and team operations
• Share learnings to strengthen alignment with Product and Engineering
• Mentor peers and foster an inclusive team environment
