Job summary

Megaport is seeking a mid-level Backend Software Engineer to own core features of our platform’s APIs and services. You’ll work in a Java/Kotlin stack with Spring Boot, Postgres, RabbitMQ, Redis, on a Kubernetes and AWS platform, and use GitHub Actions for CI/CD.

You will collaborate across teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable backend systems, while mentoring and growing within a friendly, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Have a few years building backend services in Java or Kotlin.
• Comfortable with Spring and understand its role.
• Relational databases and data modeling for efficient queries.
• Clear communication to engineers and non-engineers.
• Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset.
• Willingness to learn and grow with the team.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and ship backend services and APIs from an ambiguous problem to production-ready code.
• Work in a JVM stack with Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Postgres, RabbitMQ and Redis and help shape usage.
• Ship to a Kubernetes and AWS platform with GitHub Actions for automation.
• Turn business requirements into technical solutions and ask why when needed.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, and stakeholders to keep systems reliable, secure and fast.
• Write JUnit and Kotest tests and participate in code reviews.
• Improve architecture and reduce technical debt to keep the codebase flexible.
