Job summary

Megaport in Brisbane is seeking a Software Engineer who is well respected by peers, collaborates, and communicates effectively. You are familiar with Spring and enjoy taking ownership over a product.

That means paying down technical debt, thinking of the users (internal and external), and solving interesting technical problems. Our main code base is Java / Spring MVC but we’re actively moving to Kotlin / Spring Boot.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience in Java with OO design.
• Experience building services for web applications.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong data modelling with SQL and Hibernate.
• Good collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to reason logically and present technical information clearly.
• Bonus: network experience (IP routing, MPLS).
• Bonus: cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Bonus: Kotlin, JavaScript, Python experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs for customer integration.
• Reduce technical debt and optimise system architecture for stability.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Apply best practices and design patterns across teams.
• Drive end-to-end lifecycle of small features from concept to delivery.
• Contribute to Megaport's agile process and continuous improvement.
