Job summary

Megaport is seeking a mid-level Backend Engineer to own features on core systems powering customer connectivity across data centers. You’ll work on a Java/Kotlin stack with Spring Boot, migrating towards Kotlin, and contribute to a robust backend platform that handles provisioning and APIs at scale.

Qualifications

• A few years building backend services in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience with Spring and understanding of its core concepts.
• Proficient in relational databases and data modelling.
• Clear communication and ability to own and drive work.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt as we migrate to Kotlin.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and ship backend services and APIs from concept to production.
• Work in a JVM stack: Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Postgres, RabbitMQ, Redis.
• Deploy to a Kubernetes and AWS platform with GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and ask questions when needed.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, and stakeholders to keep systems reliable, secure and fast.
• Write tests with JUnit and Kotest; participate in code reviews as author and reviewer.
• Help improve architecture and reduce technical debt to keep codebase flexible.
