Job summary

Unison Solar Energy Pty Ltd is seeking a Reliability & Laboratory Engineer to establish and lead our lab, reliability testing, calibration and governance. You will drive development of test methods and ensure metrological traceability across R&D, Quality and Manufacturing.

This role offers the opportunity to build a high-performing laboratory and shape testing capabilities behind reliable solar products and certification readiness.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering, Renewable Energy, Physics or related discipline.
• 5+ years’ experience in product validation, reliability or engineering laboratory testing.
• Experience with ISO/IEC17025, NATA or laboratory quality systems will be highly regarded.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across R&D, Quality and Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the quality laboratory, reliability testing, calibration and technical test governance framework.
• Plan and coordinate reliability and laboratory testing across IV, EL, PID, UV, environmental, mechanical and electrical safety testing.
• Manage laboratory equipment including procurement, commissioning, calibration, maintenance and traceability.
• Lead laboratory competency, training and authorization requirements.
• Support product certification, CEC submissions, validation and trial production with strong controls.
• Monitor lab performance and drive continuous improvement in testing efficiency and data quality.

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of laboratory test methods, reliability testing, equipment calibration, metrological traceability and technical governance, while partnering acrossR&D, Qualityand Manufacturing onvalidation, certificationand technical investigations

Responsibilities

• Establish and leadUnison Solar Energy’squality laboratory, reliabilitytesting, calibration andtechnical test governanceframework.

• Manage laboratory equipment, including procurement,commissioning, calibration, maintenance, performancechecks and metrologicaltraceability.
• Lead laboratory competency, training and authorisationrequirements, includingsupervision and ongoingcapabilityassessment of testingpersonnel.
• Support product certification, CEC submissions, productvalidation and trialproduction while maintaininglaboratory controls andaccreditation readiness.
• Monitor laboratory performanceand drive continuousimprovement in testingefficiency, reliability, data quality andtechnical capability.

What you will bring

• A degree inElectrical, Mechanicalor Materials Engineering, Renewable Energy, Physicsor a relatedengineering or sciencediscipline.
• 5+ years’ experiencein product validation, reliability or engineeringlaboratory testing, includinghands-on testequipment, methods andtechnical reporting.
• Experience in laboratoryequipment installationand commissioning, calibration, metrology,sample control andmaintaining accurate, traceabledata and records.
• Strong technical judgementand problem-solvingskills, with theability to assesstest validity, abnormalresults, deviations andretestingrequirements.
• Proven ability toplan laboratory activities, manage priorities andcoordinate technicians,suppliers and externalservice providers.
• Strong understanding oflaboratory safety, witha high levelof attention todetail and commitmentto reliable, traceabledata and records.
• Experiencewith ISO/IEC17025, NATA orlaboratory quality systemswill be highlyregarded.
• Strong communication andcollaboration skills, withthe ability towork effectively acrossR&D, QualityandManufacturing.
