Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Level 3 Special Care Nursery at Canterbury Hospital. You will care for newborns and their families, work closely with midwives and paediatric teams, and contribute to high-quality, family-centred care in a supportive environment.

These permanent positions offer flexibility with full-time or part-time options (minimum 16 hours per week) and a collaborative culture that values development and teamwork within NSW Health.

Our 8-bed, Level 3 Special Care Nursery at Canterbury Hospital is looking for compassionate, motivated nurses to join a close-knit team where you’ll be known, supported and given room to grow.

About Our Nursery

We sit right next to Waratah, our maternity unit. That means you’ll work side by side with our midwives every day, sharing knowledge, supporting each other and caring for babies and families together. We work closely with RPA Newborn Care for transfers and back-transfers. This gives you exposure to babies at different stages of their journey and strong links with one of Australia’s leading neonatal services. Canterbury is also an exciting place to be right now. With major investment committed to upgraded maternity and Special Care Nursery facilities, this is a great time to join and help shape the future of our service.

New starters

You’ll receive an orientation to the nursery, SLHD policies, clinical practices and team processes. Experienced colleagues will guide you while you settle in. Nobody is expected to know everything on day one.

We’re a supportive, welcoming team that values teamwork, open communication and mutual respect. We work closely with paediatricians, obstetric staff, midwives and allied health, including social work and lactation support, to achieve the best outcomes for babies and families.
