Job summary

Waverley Council in Bondi Junction is seeking a Regional Environmental Program Coordinator to lead day-to-day operations of the three-council Regional Environmental Program, delivering sustainability outcomes for residents and businesses.

The role requires a tertiary qualification in engineering or environment science, strong project management skills and at least five years' experience, plus the ability to engage with government and community stakeholders while advancing greenhouse gas

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Environment Science, Project Management or related discipline and / or relevant training.
  • Experience in procurement, contract administration, financial management and risk management.
  • Experience delivering capital works projects in public/private sectors.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in a complex environment.
  • Commitment to improving environmental performance of projects.
  • Strong customer focus with stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of EEO.
  • Current Class C Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage sustainability projects across three LGAs.
  • Work on award-winning projects like Public EV Charging, Compost Revolution, Solar my Suburb, Electrify the East and Climate Ready Childcares.
  • Advocate and engage with Federal, State and other local governments, DNSPs and industry stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with residents and businesses to drive behaviour change and sustainability outcomes.
  • Develop and plan new projects targeting greenhouse gas reduction, renewable energy, EV charging and water conservation.
  • Provide expert advice to internal teams and external stakeholders on sustainability best practice.

Waverley Council is looking for an experienced Regional Environmental Program Coordinator who will be responsible for day-to-day operations of projects across 3-Council Regional Environmental Program.

The Role

The Regional Environmental Program Coordinator is a collaboration between Waverley, Woollahra and Randwick Councils’ dedicated to delivering tangible sustainability outcomes for our residents, businesses and communities across the three local government areas. As the Regional Environmental Program Coordinator, you will:

  • Implement and manage sustainability projects across three LGAs
  • Work on award-winning projects like Public EV Charging, Compost Revolution, Solar my Suburb, Electrify the East and Climate Ready Childcares
  • Advocate and engage with Federal, State and other local governments, DNSPs and industry stakeholders
  • Build relationships with residents, community organisations and businesses to drive behaviour change and meaningful sustainability outcomes
  • Develop and plan new projects targeting greenhouse gas reduction, renewable energy, electric vehicle charging and water conservation
  • Provide expert advice to internal teams and external stakeholders on sustainability best practice and opportunities

About You
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Environment Science, Project Management or related discipline and / or relevant training and extensive relevant experience.
  • Developed project management skills including procurement, contract administration, financial management and risk management
  • Demonstrated project management experience in the planning and delivery of capital works in the public and/or private sectors.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in the workforce.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading groups of multi-disciplinary professionals in a complex environment.
  • Commitment, experience and knowledge in improving the environmental performance of projects
  • Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, advocacy and consultation skills with a strong customer focus
  • An understanding of and commitment to EEO.
  • Current Class C Driver's License.
