Job summary

Waverley Council is seeking a proactive Public Place Officer to help deliver our Strategic Asset Management Plan and enhance the liveability of our Local Government Area. The role focuses on monitoring service delivery, coordinating asset maintenance, and improving accountability across the LGA.

You will inspect public spaces daily, act as a key contact for councillor requests, manage restoration projects and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to delivery outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in monitoring service level agreements.
  • Strong communication skills with community, council, and authorities.
  • Understanding of Roads Act, and public utility legislations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of civil infrastructure, condition assessments and maintenance principles.
  • Problem solving for risk, prioritising solutions, and scheduling works.
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor service delivery and improve performance across the LGA.

  • Conduct daily proactive inspections of public assets across the ward.
  • Act as a point of contact for Councillor requests and operational matters.

  • Follow up on reactive CRM requests.
  • Manage asset restoration projects to meet requirements.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to align interests and deliver outcomes.

In this role you will:

  • Play a key role in monitoring service delivery, improving performance, and increasing accountability across the LGA
  • Coordinate customer requests for asset maintenance and restoration
  • Monitor operational team performance against service level schedules to ensure accountability
  • Conduct daily proactive inspections of public assets across the ward
  • Act as a key point of contact for Councillor service requests and operational matters
  • Audit, identify, and prioritise risk-based actions in public spaces
  • Follow up on reactive requests in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Manage asset restoration projects to meet operational requirements
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to align interests and deliver outcome

About you

To be successful, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability in monitoring service level agreements.
  • Sound level communication skills with the ability to effectively respond, engage, liaise with community and business representatives, Councilors and Government Authorities.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Roads Act, Council’s powers and duties as a Roads Authority and public utility legislations and procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of civil infrastructure technical specifications, condition assessments, and maintenance management principles.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills for managing risk, prioritising solutions and programming works. A positive, professional and co-operative approach to working with others.
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
