Job summary

Certis Security Australia is seeking a Retail Security Officer to be the face of safety in busy Sydney retail environments. You will patrol, monitor activity, and respond to incidents to deter theft and protect customers, staff and assets.

This role requires a valid Security Licence (Classification 1A), current First Aid and CPR, and the ability to obtain an Australian Police Check. You will deliver friendly, professional service while upholding store safety and security standards.

As a Retail Security Officer, you’ll be the face of safety on-site—helping protect customers, staff, and assets in busy retail environments. Your visible presence and quick response will help prevent incidents, reduce risk, and create a safe and welcoming space for everyone.

About the role

This is a fast-paced, customer-facing role where no two shifts are the same.You’ll be working across retail sites providing a strong security presence, monitoring activity, and responding to incidents as they arise.

You’ll combine strong situational awareness with great customer service—supporting both safety and a positive in-store experience.

Job Location: Haymarket & St George, Sydney

Shift Pattern: Day Shift

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols and security checks
• Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft and anti-social behaviour
• Monitor CCTV and on-site activity, identifying and responding to risks
• Respond to incidents and de-escalate conflicts professionally and safely
• Provide excellent customer service while supporting store operations and safety

About You

• Must have Security Licence, Classification 1A (Unarmed Guarding)
• Valid First Aid Certificate (3 years validity) with current CPR Certificate (1 year validity)
• Ability to clear an Australian Police Check
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in busy retail environments
• Good observation skills and confidence to manage and de-escalate incidents
