Job summary

Ventia is seeking a Range Operator to support the Bindoon Training Area, contributing to safe, efficient range operations for Australia’s Defence community. The role involves preparing ranges for customer operations, keeping live-fire target systems running, and participating in HSE inspections and land management.

Ideal candidates have experience in grounds or Defence roles, basic MS Office skills, map reading and navigation, and a commitment to teamwork and safety.

About The Role

Ventia is seeking a passionate team member who thrives in the outdoors.

As the Range Operator you will support the safe and efficient operation of the Training Area Range in the Bindoon Training Area.

Step into a hands-on, action-driven role where no two days are the same. You’ll prepare and present ranges ready for customer operations, keep live-fire target systems running at peak performance, and play an active part in HSE inspections and land management initiatives.

You’ll also be on the frontline of bushfire response efforts, contributing to the protection of people, property, and environment. Whether you’re manufacturing and repairing targets, ensuring strict compliance with Range Standing Orders, or championing company values and safety standards.

What’s On Offer

• $30.00 per hour – $33.43 per hour (commensurate with your experience) + applicable allowances + work-use vehicle provided
• Monday to Friday primary hours of 8:00am – 4:00pm, with plenty of overtime opportunities
• Well compensated with allowances where applicable
• Pool vehicle use on site where required

About You

• Experience in grounds, land management or Defence based role (Advantageous)
• Bush firefighting qualifications and First Aid certification (Advantageous)
• Basic computer proficiency (MS Office)
• Competence in using tools and equipment for range operations
• Skilled in map reading and vehicle-based navigation
• Commitment to teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement

Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen and be willing to undertake and maintain a satisfactory Australian Federal Police Check.
