Job summary

Ventia, in partnership with the Australian Defence Force, seeks Grounds Persons for the Curtin site. You will join the Land Management team to deliver land and grounds maintenance across bases, including revegetation and general grounds tasks, in a remote Curtin location.

The role requires 1+ years’ experience, equipment operation skills, and alignment with safety protocols. Australian citizenship and Defence Security Clearance eligibility are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Propagate and revegetate across diverse landscapes.
• Perform general grounds tasks including debris removal, cleaning of outdoor features and hardstand areas, line marking, and wildlife management.
• Mulching, pruning, hedging, turf care, pest control and application of chemicals and fertilisers.
• Operate and maintain equipment per Operator’s Manual and maintenance schedules.
• Operate mowers, tractors, small plant, machinery and hand tools across bases as required.

About The Role

As part of the Land Management team, you will undertake daily operational duties as prescribed by the Grounds Supervisor to deliver the safe, effective and efficient delivery of land and grounds maintenance. You will be based in the remote area of Curtin working across all our bases. This role will include but is not limited to:

• Propagate, plant, and undertake revegetation across diverse landscapes.
• Perform general grounds tasks including debris and rubbish removal, cleaning of outdoor features and hardstand areas, line marking, and managing injured or deceased wildlife.
• Mulching, pruning, hedging, turf care, pest control and the application of chemicals and fertilisers.
• Operate and maintain equipment in accordance with the Operator’s Manual and scheduled maintenance requirements.
• Operation of mowers, tractors, small plant, machinery and both powered & non-powered hand tools.
• Work across all bases as agreed with the Supervisor, based on operational needs.

About You

• 1 + years’ experience in a similar working environment.
• Experience with operating and maintaining plant and equipment.
• Experience in manual handling.
• Experience working within an Environmental Management System.
• Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to confidently communicate via radio, including the capability to communicate risk, **escalate safety concerns**, and respond appropriately to safety critical situations within an aerodrome environment

Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen and be willing to undertake and maintain a satisfactory Australian Federal Police Check
