Job summary

Marine Structures on the Sunshine Coast is seeking a hands-on Purchasing & Inventory Officer / Storeperson to support the flow of materials across purchasing, inventory and warehouse operations. You will work with suppliers, production teams and warehouse staff to ensure timely ordering, receiving, recording and availability of materials.

The role combines purchasing administration with practical warehouse duties, including stock control, stocktakes and inventory reporting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing, inventory control and warehousing.
  • Exposure to purchasing and supplier coordination, including PO follow-up.
  • Experience using an ERP or inventory management system.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with inventory and records.
  • Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing in a team.
  • Current forklift licence – essential.

Responsibilities

  • Raise and process purchase orders and assist with supplier quotations and pricing comparisons.
  • Follow up suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, availability and lead times.
  • Receive and check incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
  • Unload deliveries, organise stock and maintain clean, safe storage areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP system, including transfers and adjustments.
  • Conduct stocktakes and cycle counts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Pick, pack and issue materials to production teams as required.
  • Maintain supplier and product records and assist with stock level monitoring and inventory reporting.
  • Operate forklift and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing, inventory and warehouse processes.

Purchasing & Inventory Officer/ Storeperson

Marine Structures is a growing Australian marine construction business specialising in the design, fabrication, supply and installation of pontoons, marinas, jetties, ferry terminals, gangways, pedestrian bridges, wharves and related marine infrastructure.

We are seeking an organised and hands‑on Purchasing & Inventory Officer / Storeperson to join our Sunshine Coast team and support the efficient flow of materials across purchasing, inventory and warehouse operations.

About the role:

This is a varied role combining purchasing administration with practical warehouse and inventory responsibilities. Reporting to the Procurement & ERP Manager, you will work closely with suppliers, production teams and warehouse staff to ensure materials are ordered, received, recorded and available when required.

You will also play an active role in improving purchasing and inventory processes as the business continues to grow.

Key responsibilities:

Raise and process purchase orders and assist with supplier quotations and pricing comparisons.

Follow up suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, availability and lead times.

Receive and check incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery documentation.

Unload deliveries, organise stock and maintain clean, safe and well‑organised storage areas.

Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP system, including stock transfers, returns and adjustments.

Conduct stocktakes and cycle counts and investigate stock discrepancies.

Pick, pack and issue materials to production teams as required.

Maintain supplier and product records and assist with stock level monitoring and inventory reporting.

Operate a forklift and other warehouse equipment safely.

Identify opportunities to improve purchasing, inventory and warehouse processes.

About you:

Previous experience in purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, stores or a similar role.

Exposure to purchasing and supplier coordination, including purchase orders and order follow‑up.

Experience using an ERP or inventory management system.

Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy with inventory and records.

Strong communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

A practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to work across both office and warehouse activities.

Current forklift licence - essential.

Experience in manufacturing, marine, construction or another industrial environment will be highly regarded.
