Job summary

Marine Structures is seeking an experienced Purchasing and Inventory Officer to manage purchasing and inventory transactions across the business. You will ensure the ERP system remains the reliable source for supplier and item master data, purchase orders, goods receipts, stock movements and balances.

Reporting to the Procurement and ERP Manager, you will maintain accurate records, resolve discrepancies, support system users and help improve procurement and inventory processes.

Qualifications

• At least three years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control or supply chain administration.
• Hands‑on experience using ERP purchasing and inventory modules.
• Experience maintaining supplier and item master data.
• Experience processing purchase orders, goods receipts, stock movements, returns, adjustments and stocktakes in an ERP system.
• Ability to extract and interpret ERP data, prepare reports and investigate variances.
• Strong Excel and general Microsoft Office skills.

• Monitor ERP data quality and correct incomplete, duplicate or inaccurate records.
• Reconcile ERP inventory balances against cycle counts and physical stocktakes.
• Use ERP reports and dashboards to monitor stock levels, open orders, shortages, excess inventory and supplier performance.
• Support ERP testing, upgrades and user training.
• Reduce manual workarounds and improve compliance with ERP workflows.
• Translate production plans, project schedules and forecasts into purchasing requirements.

• Obtain competitive quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times and supply terms.
• Monitor supplier performance, including quality, cost and on-time delivery.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, purchasing errors and supply issues.
• Maintain complete, traceable and audit-ready procurement records.
• Support WHS, environmental, QA and Integrated Management System requirements.

You will be organised, commercially aware and highly accurate, with the confidence to work across purchasing, inventory and ERP processes.

To be successful, you will have:

• At least three years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control or supply chain administration.
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience using ERP purchasing and inventory modules.
• Experience maintaining supplier and item master data.
• Experience processing purchase orders, goods receipts, stock movements, returns, adjustments and stocktakes in an ERP system.
• The ability to extract and interpret ERP data, prepare reports and investigate transaction variances.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to data entry.
• Clear communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills.
• The ability to work effectively with production teams, project managers, supervisors and suppliers.
• Experience in a manufacturing, marine or industrial environment and a forklift licence are essential.

• Inventory accuracy of at least 98%.
• Cycle counts completed and recorded to schedule.
