Job summary

Foundation Recruitment – Sunshine Coast QLD is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a full-time, ongoing role in marine and structural maintenance. You will perform hands-on maintenance, fault finding, repairs and preventative tasks across pontoon, jetty and marine equipment.

Working with a maintenance supervisor, you will diagnose faults, carry out repairs, read technical drawings, and contribute to safety and continuous improvement in a busy marine structures operation.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in marine, construction, manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Experience with marine structures, pontoons or jetties is highly regarded.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and preventative maintenance skills.
• Ability to read technical manuals, drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on machinery, plant and equipment.
• Inspect, clean, lubricate and adjust mechanical components to maintain performance.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and identify root causes.
• Carry out mechanical repairs, component replacement and servicing.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Undertake basic welding, fabrication and machining as required.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings and equipment specs.
• Identify worn or defective components and recommend repairs.
• Maintain maintenance records, service reports and parts usage.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Supervisor to communicate condition and needs.
• Follow marine industry procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Assist with continuous improvement to enhance equipment reliability.
• Support and mentor junior maintenance personnel when required.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop and organised environment.
• Ensure tools/equipment are returned to designated locations after shifts.

Maintenance Mechanic Full-Time | Ongoing Opportunity | Marine & Structural Maintenance

Foundation Labour Hire is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanicto join a busy marine structures operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled tradesperson who enjoys hands-on maintenance, fault finding, repairs and working around marine infrastructure.

You will play a key role in keeping machinery, equipment and facilities operating safely and efficiently, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance, breakdown response and continuous improvement.

Working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and broader maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a range of machinery and equipment used in pontoon, jetty and marine structure construction.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on machinery, plant and equipment.

• Identify and report potential hazards, equipment defects and safety issues.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Support and mentor junior maintenance personnel where required.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and work environment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are returned to their designated locations at the completion of each shift.

You will be a practical and mechanically minded tradesperson with strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently while contributing to a broader maintenance team.

Ideally, you will have:

• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Mechanical Fitting or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role, preferably within marine, construction, manufacturing, heavy industry or a similar environment.
• Experience working with marine structures, pontoons, jetties or related equipmentwill be highly regarded.
• Basic welding and fabrication capabilities.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of preventative and reactive maintenance practices.
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Strong safety awareness and understanding of workplace safety procedures.
• Ability to undertake physically demanding work and operate effectively in heat, rain and varied outdoor conditions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A proactive approach to identifying problems and finding practical solutions.
