Job summary

AkzoNobel in Sydney seeks an Area Sales Manager to drive revenue growth in protective coatings. You will manage direct and indirect accounts, identify opportunities, and influence key decision-makers in the coatings industry to secure specifications and long-term partnerships.

Ideal candidates bring coatings sales experience, strong relationship skills, and technical aptitude. Desirable certifications include NACE CIP Level 2 or FROSIO; knowledge of steel prep and coating application is a plus.

Qualifications

• Sales experience in paints/coatings
• Relationship-building, sales, negotiation & influencing
• Technical aptitude with willingness to learn product applications
• NACE CIP Level 2 or FROSIO certification (desirable)
• Knowledge of steel preparation and coating application (a plus)

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a portfolio of coating customers including applicators and contractors
• Identify new opportunities and convert leads to sales
• Collaborate with regional teams to align strategies and profitability
• Build lasting relationships with customers and industry stakeholders
• Maintain CRM records, deliver reviews, and assist forecasting and stock planning
• Regularly visit assigned customers to sustain market activity
• Support operations and stock planning to ensure optimal service
