Peregian Beach College in Peregian Beach, Queensland is seeking a dedicated Property Manager to maintain a clean, safe, and well‑presented school environment. This part‑time, flexible role supports students and staff and offers opportunities to progress within the college.

You will lead facilities maintenance, supervise grounds and contractors, manage budgets, and ensure WHS compliance, with duties spanning building services, asset management, and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in property/facilities management or a related trade/maintenance management role.
  • Strong knowledge of grounds and building maintenance, including compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop staff and contractors.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, including budgeting and planning.
  • Sound understanding of WHS and risk management in a facilities context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and environmental practices in facilities management.
  • Experience in a school or similar environment, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement property and maintenance plans aligned to College priorities and timetable.
  • Lead and supervise grounds/maintenance staff, including rostering, training, and performance management.
  • Contribute to the development of budgets for property services, maintenance, and capital projects.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and plan for asset lifecycle management.
  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance of buildings, classrooms, and outdoor facilities.
  • Ensure sports fields, playgrounds, gardens, and landscaped areas are maintained to a high standard.
  • Coordinate repairs, painting, cleaning, and minor works either in-house or through contractors.
  • Monitor and maintain building systems such as plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, and maintenance schedules.
  • Manage risk by conducting regular safety audits and responding promptly to hazards.
  • Ensure safe chemical handling, equipment storage, and contractor inductions.
  • Engage and supervise external contractors for specialist work, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Manage supplier relationships and service contracts.
  • Monitor condition of College property and recommend upgrades or replacements.
  • Maintain accurate asset registers and service documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with College leadership, staff, and community groups to support College events and operational needs.
  • Assist in planning for new facilities, refurbishments, and capital projects.
  • Promote sustainability initiatives in grounds and facilities management.
  • Any other reasonable and/or ad-hoc tasks as directed by Head of College or Board of Directors

Job description

We are seeking a dedicatedProperty Manager to join us at Peregian Beach College in beautiful Peregian Beach, Queensland. This part-time, flexible role is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for students and staff. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work and contribute to the overall cleanliness and appearance of the school facilities.

This role is flexible and hours can be negotiated with the right person.

We are looking to promote one particularly skilled and competent worker to a Coordinator position within one year.

Key Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in property/facilities management or a related trade/maintenance management role
  • Strong knowledge of grounds and building maintenance, including compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop staff and contractors

Compliance Responsibilities

All staff are required to comply with all policies, procedures and requirements for:

  • Risk Management - report identified hazards that may pose a risk to employees or the public, and/or may give rise to an insurance claim, taking into consideration the risk for safety, security, vandalism, burglary/theft and fire/arson
  • Child Safety - staff are required to adhere to the policies and protocols in relation to matters of child abuse
  • Workplace Health and Safety - take reasonable care to protect their own health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace - it is a requirement to immediately report any incidents, hazards or near misses to the relevant supervisor and actively participate in hazard elimination where required
