Job summary

You will lead facilities maintenance, supervise grounds and contractors, manage budgets, and ensure WHS compliance, with duties spanning building services, asset management, and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in property/facilities management or a related trade/maintenance management role.
• Strong knowledge of grounds and building maintenance, including compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop staff and contractors.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, including budgeting and planning.
• Sound understanding of WHS and risk management in a facilities context.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
• Knowledge of sustainability and environmental practices in facilities management.
• Experience in a school or similar environment, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement property and maintenance plans aligned to College priorities and timetable.
• Lead and supervise grounds/maintenance staff, including rostering, training, and performance management.
• Contribute to the development of budgets for property services, maintenance, and capital projects.
• Schedule preventative maintenance and plan for asset lifecycle management.
• Oversee day-to-day maintenance of buildings, classrooms, and outdoor facilities.
• Ensure sports fields, playgrounds, gardens, and landscaped areas are maintained to a high standard.
• Coordinate repairs, painting, cleaning, and minor works either in-house or through contractors.
• Monitor and maintain building systems such as plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, and security.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, and maintenance schedules.
• Manage risk by conducting regular safety audits and responding promptly to hazards.
• Ensure safe chemical handling, equipment storage, and contractor inductions.
• Engage and supervise external contractors for specialist work, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Manage supplier relationships and service contracts.
• Monitor condition of College property and recommend upgrades or replacements.
• Maintain accurate asset registers and service documentation.
• Work collaboratively with College leadership, staff, and community groups to support College events and operational needs.
• Assist in planning for new facilities, refurbishments, and capital projects.
• Promote sustainability initiatives in grounds and facilities management.
• Any other reasonable and/or ad-hoc tasks as directed by Head of College or Board of Directors
