Job summary

Downlands College is seeking a Maintenance Officer to join the Property Services team. You will be responsible for a range of maintenance tasks across college facilities, from minor refurbishments and repairs to painting and grounds upkeep.

The role requires a trade-related qualification or demonstrable experience, with a focus on safe work practices and the ability to work with minimal supervision. A White Card or equivalent OHS induction is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or demonstrated knowledge and experience in property and facility maintenance.
• Safe work practices knowledge including SWMS and safety issue mitigation.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and adapt to operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor refurbishments and routine building maintenance.
• Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on buildings and equipment repairs.
• Paint surfaces and carry out painting tasks as required.
• Landscape and maintain gardens and grounds.

Job description

A full-time opportunity exists for a maintenance officer to join Downlands College's Property Services. The Property Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the college assets including buildings, facilities, equipment, grounds, vehicles and resources, working in collaboration with other staff.

This role is on a permanent basis to commence immediately or as otherwise negotiated.

The Role

The Property Services Department is responsible for working across a variety of spaces conducting a range of tasks such as:

• Minor refurbishment works
• Scheduled and reactive building and equipment maintenanceBuilding and equipment repairs
• Painting
• Landscaping
• Garden and grounds maintenance
• Event set up of college facilities for staff and hire by outside groups

About You

You will have:

• A valid Working With Children Check - Blue Card (essential)
• Any trade qualification or demonstrated knowledge and experience working in property and facility maintenance is highly desirable
• A broad understating of building and construction principles
• Ability to undertake work with limited supervision, be self-motivated and demonstrate a flexible, adaptable attitude to achieve operational requirements
• Working knowledge and history of applying safe work practices in a property management environment including using SWMS, identifying and mitigating safety issues/practices.
• A valid White Card or OHS induction certificate from other states is advantageous

Services Staff Level 4 $36.98 to $38.15 per hour plus super.
