Project Officer – Sector Support and Development

We have an opportunity for two Project Officers to join our Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) Sector Support and Development team.

These roles are funded through the Australian Government's CHSP Sector Support and Development (SSD) program until 30 June 2027. The SSD program aims to increase CHSP provider capability and improve quality of service delivery through various activities.

About the role

In this role, you will work as part of a small, collaborative team engaging with CHSP providers, older adults and other stakeholders to support providers in delivering high-quality and responsive aged care in line with the new Aged Care Act, Quality Standards and broader aged care reform. You will also engage directly with older people, helping them to understand, navigate, access and inform the aged care system.

One position will have a greater focus on understanding the aged care system and reform environment to work with CHSP providers on meeting aged care reform activities, enhancing business practices and building capability. The other position will have a greater focus on stakeholder engagement with CHSP providers and older adults, understanding and responding to the needs, challenges and opportunities identified when providing or accessing aged care, and facilitating sessions.

The Manager will guide your work activity and you will work autonomously within a team environment, coordinating and delivering key activities outlined in the annual work plan.

What you’ll be doing

Activities include:

• Contributing to the implementation of the approved Annual Work Plan by coordinating and delivering assigned activities, milestones, deliverables, actions and timelines.
• Organising, facilitating and participating in project activities, including webinars and information sessions, work group and network meetings, planning activities, consultations, adding to online platforms, developing and distributing resource materials, seeking feedback, conducting evaluation, and undertaking follow-up activities.
• Engaging with CHSP Providers, older adults and other stakeholders one-on-one or in group settings as part of information sessions, network meetings and work groups, communities of practice, consultations, individual support sessions, regional engagement activities, and through online platforms.
• Maintaining understanding of CHSP-related aged care reform activities and requirements and providing information and guidance to CHSP providers and older adults one-on-one or in group or written settings.
• Maintaining project activities including schedules, action registers, reporting calendars, records and evidence.
• Preparing project documentation, communications, guidance documentation, information for dissemination, promotional material, issues and trends, meeting minutes and agendas, updates, and draft reports.
• Using Microsoft 365 and platforms/programs such as Eventbrite, The Engagement Hub, Zoom, Salesforce and Asana to undertake project activity.
• Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with CHSP Providers, older adults and other stakeholders.
• Participating in engagement activities with providers and older adults across Queensland and nationally, including regional travel to provide one-on-one support, undertake group activities, participate in expos and consultations, and understand the local context.
• Participating in governance, record keeping, quality and risk management activities.
• Undertaking monitoring, evaluation, reporting and administration tasks.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for two people. Hours and location of work are negotiable – minimum 0.6FTE per position.

One position will most suit people who have a good working knowledge of the aged care system, preferably CHSP. The other position will most suit people who have experience in engaging with various stakeholders, including workers and older adults, and will ideally have knowledge of the aged care system. Both positions require people who enjoy working with others, while keeping activities, information and timelines on track.

We are looking for people who are organised and comfortable working on multiple activities within a small team, are approachable, can work autonomously, and enjoy engaging with workers and older adults.

You will bring

• Demonstrated experience in delivering projects and in engaging stakeholders, with sufficient experience to work under general direction, exercise judgement, and coordinate and deliver project activities and priorities.
• Project coordination and organisational skills, including the ability to manage activities, timelines, priorities and follow-up actions.
• Demonstrated experience and confidence in facilitating sessions and meetings, participating in work groups, and engaging with stakeholders one-on-one and in group settings.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with older adults, aged care providers, and diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate project and stakeholder records and support data collection, monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements.
• Ability to identify project risks, issues and improvement opportunities.
• Confidence and proficiency using Microsoft 365 and Zoom, and the ability to learn systems such as Salesforce, the Engagement Hub, Eventbrite and Asana.

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in human or social services, health, community services, stakeholder engagement; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and demonstrated competence.
