As a Project Officer at GCPHN, you will contribute to the delivery of meaningful health initiatives that strengthen primary health care services, improve service coordination and support better health outcomes across the region. This position is offered as a full-time, fixed term appointment, contracted until 30 May 2027, with the possibility for extension.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Project Officer, you will coordinate and support the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects aligned with GCPHN's strategic priorities. Working with internal teams, healthcare providers and community stakeholders, you will assist in coordinating project activities, monitoring performance measures, preparing reports and recommendations, facilitating stakeholder engagement and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

A key focus of this role is supporting the delivery of the Greater Choice for At Home Palliative Care Program. This includes supporting the implementation and governance of the Compassionate Communities Gold Coast model and framework, coordinating Palliative Care Education and Training, and promotion, maintenance and evaluation of Advance Care Planning resources and activities.

The role will also provide secretariat support to the Palliative and Aged Care Committee and contribute to the implementation of the CARE PATH pilot, helping to strengthen access to person-centred palliative and aged care services across the Gold Coast region.

The role requires strong organisational, communication and relationship management skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute to innovative, evidence-based solutions that improve primary health care outcomes for the Gold Coast community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic health projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor project deliverables, timelines, budgets and performance indicators to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Engage, consult and collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, forums and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, briefings, project documentation and recommendations.
  • Assist with project risk management, service agreements and contractor performance monitoring.
  • Research emerging healthcare trends, initiatives and best practice approaches to inform project delivery.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance and organisational objectives.
  • Maintain accurate project records, reporting and data management practices.
SELECTION CRITERIA – ESSENTIAL
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of projects within the health sector, using highly developed organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using standard project management techniques and knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of basic scoping methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, to identify the Primary Health Care needs of the Gold Coast Community and recommend initiatives to improve these.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing, negotiation and consultation skills, with the ability to build both internal and external relationships at all levels of the organisation and the community.
  • Proven ability to think conceptually, analyse complex issues and develop innovative solutions and strategies within organisational constraints and budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a working environment that demonstrates the values of quality, professionalism, teamwork and performance.
  • A current Driver’s License and use of a personal vehicle, which is fully comprehensively insured, is required to complete the duties of this position. Work related mileage will be reimbursed.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours in line with the availability of key stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of SharePoint, Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Outlook and OneDrive), project management tools and relevant databases.
SELECTION CRITERIA – HIGHLY DESIRABLE
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, public health, project management, social sciences or related discipline
  • Experience in palliative care, community development or a related health portfolio
WE OFFER
  • Remuneration package: $92,586 to $102,005 plus superannuation
  • Salary packaging benefits (up to $15,900 p.a. + $2,650 p.a. for meals/entertainment)
