• 7+ years' experience in Australian commercial construction.
• 2–3+ years' experience as a Contract Administrator before PM.

• Ability to manage projects from start to finish with budget, programme and quality accountability.
• Leadership capabilities to manage site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving.

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded commercial construction company with a strong presence across Melbourne. Due to continued project activity, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join their Melbourne team.

About the Role

We are seeking a capable and commercially astute Project Manager with a minimum of 7+ years' experience in the construction industry, ideally having progressed through a Contract Administrator position before moving into Project Management. The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from commencement through to completion, managing all aspects of delivery, including commercial performance, programming, procurement, subcontractor management and client relationships. Working closely with site teams and senior management, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage construction projects from pre-construction through to practical completion and handover.
• Oversee project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting and overall commercial performance.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, contract administration, variations and progress claims.
• Coordinate construction programmes, resources and project deliverables.
• Work closely with Site Managers, Contract Administrators and consultants to ensure successful project delivery.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
• Identify and proactively manage project risks, contractual obligations and delivery challenges.
• Ensure projects meet all relevant safety, quality and compliance requirements.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 7+ years' experience within the Australian commercial construction industry.
• Ideally 2–3+ years' previous experience as a Contract Administrator before progressing into Project Management.
• Proven experience delivering commercial construction projects in a Project Manager capacity.
• Strong commercial acumen, with a thorough understanding of construction contracts, procurement, variations and cost management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from start to finish, with accountability for programme, budget and quality.
• Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to effectively manage site teams, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant qualifications in Construction Management, Building or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
