Job summary

J.C.SMALE ENGINEERING in Melbourne, Australia seeks a Project Engineer to own the mining test equipment line, manage the installed base, spares support, refurbishment and new builds. You’ll work from customer drawings or originate concepts through layout, 3D modelling and detailing to a manufacturable package, seeing it built on the workshop floor and delivered to the customer.

You will lead projects end-to-end, manage engineering changes, coordinate with customers and suppliers, and collaborate

Qualifications

Degree qualified in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years in equipment design, machine building or heavy fabrication.
Comfortable reading and critiquing drawings.
Able to work from third-party drawings and keep requirements under control.
Hands-on commissioning and fault-finding experience on machinery or process equipment.

Responsibilities

Lead assigned projects from enquiry to delivery, reporting to the General Manager.
Review customer drawings, identify errors and cost-saving opportunities before production.
Raise, track and close out engineering changes.
Concept development, layout, optimisation, modelling and detailing.
Manage third-party certification and verification through to first-pass approval.
Quote and estimate assigned work and support spares quoting.
Act as technical contact with customers and liaise with the German principal.
